Now acting in a consultant role as part of the SQCL team, Alison Beaney is very experienced in all aspects of quality in hospital pharmacy. She was, for many years, Regional Quality Assurance Specialist for the North East and N Cumbria. During this time, she served as both secretary (twice!) and chairman (twice!) of the NHS Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Committee and was part of the Specialist Pharmacy Service. She remains an accredited EL(97)52 auditor.
On behalf of the national PQA committee, Alison edits the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services handbook, the recognised standards for NHS unlicensed aseptic units across the UK. She has also contributed to many other national advisory documents.
Alison obtained a Professional Doctorate from Sunderland University in 2010, where she is now a Professor, on the topic of the manufacture and preparation of medicines. She is a Fellow of Royal Pharmaceutical Society, and an accomplished speaker.
